I ordered the 7' medium light suppressor. I caught 19 fish the first weekend I had it . Dollar for dollar ,pound for pound this is the best rod I've ever used . It is light responsive has some good backbone all around a great rod.
As of now I have it paired with a Cabo 50 spinning. It works well and it’s nice and light. Exclusively use it in the marsh or jetties with 1/8-1/4 jig and have caught some nice fish with it.
Best rods on the market!
This has an ml power rating but don’t let that fool you.It likes to battle the big fish. I have a Vanford 1000 reel on it. The mod/fast action really does it job when hooked up with larger fish. It throws a variety of baits and is a very accurate caster. It tamed the bass pictured after a short battle. This is a great rod.
I just picked up two of these rods a couple of weeks ago. Out of the box they looked great and felt great in the hand, still do. However, the first day out on the water I was very disappointed with the lack of sensitivity. I have a Hallow Point and a Ballistic rod from Old18 and love them a lot and expected the same great product. Unfortunately, out of all of my other similarly priced rods from several different brands, these two Ascent rods are the least sensitive rods on my boat and I’m not quite sure what to think about that, as I had really high expectations of them. You live, you learn I guess.
Excellent rod for almost any bass fishing application. Very sensitive tip with plenty of backbone. Well done.
I finally had a chance to use this rod today. After dragging lures through some weeds, it is easy to tell the difference between a light bite VS snagging up on some weeds. I hate setting the hook on salad. Love the rod. It brought in seven decent northern pike today.
